Ini buku terakhir seri Heather Wells. Kesannya lebih santai daripada buku-buku sebelumnya. Lebih banyak kegiatan sehari-hari yang diceritakan. Seperti: semester akan dimulai, masa orientasi mahasiswa akan berlangsung, dan Heather sedang mempersiapkan pernikahan.

Dramanya masih ada, walaupun nggak sedramatis buku sebelumnya. Tapi tetap dengan gaya Heather yang ceplas-ceplos dan dramatis. Hal yang luar biasa mungkin adalah: salah satu mahasiswa di Fischer Hall adalah pangeran dari Qalif (negeri imajiner yang mungkin letaknya di Timur Tengah). Fischer Hall yang terkenal dengan nama Death Dorm karena sering kali terjadi kasus yang menimbulkan kematian, mendadak jadi favorit. Banyak mahasiswa dari asrama lain minta pindah ke Fischer Hall. Hari pertama semester dimulai sudah membuat hari Heather kacau.

Tidak hanya itu. Salah satu mahasiswi ditemukan tewas di kamarnya. Tapi tidak diketahui penyebabnya, karena tidak ditemukan tanda-tanda kekerasan. Bisa jadi kematiannya karena sebab alami, seperti misalnya asmanya kumat. Sayangnya, ponsel mahasiswi yang tewas itu tidak ditemukan di mana pun.

Karena itulah aku berpikir kasus yang terjadi cukup tenang. Tidak seekstrim buku sebelumnya. Kesannya malah terselubung karena berita kematian itu tidak heboh. Yah, karena berita tentang pangeran tampan dari negeri asing yang tinggal di asrama itu lebih menghebohkan. Dramanya lebih ke drama kehidupan sehari-hari, seperti: teman-teman Heather di Fischer Hall, persiapan pernikahan, dan kedatangan orang yang nggak disangka-sangka oleh Heather. Tapi semuanya diceritakan dengan humor yang segar seperti biasa.

Oke, mungkin isinya nggak sepenuhnya tentang kehidupan sehari-hari yang normal. Karena tiba-tiba saja bagian akhirnya jadi drama. Bum! Semuanya terjadi begitu cepat, dan dunia seakan jungkir balik sesaat. Tapi, sekali ‘klik’, semuanya terungkap.

Happily ever after itu pilihan. Terutama untuk Heather. Masa lalu biarlah berlalu. Dan semoga kutukan Death Dorm nggak mengikuti Heather ke mana pun.

Meg Cabot

Meg Cabot was born on February 1, 1967, during the Chinese astrological year of the Fire Horse, a notoriously unlucky sign. Fortunately she grew up in Bloomington, Indiana, where few people were aware of the stigma of being a fire horse -- at least until Meg became a teenager, when she flunked freshman Algebra twice, then decided to cut her own bangs.
